Hi everyone,
after a very long break in blogging, I would like to tell everyone about a lecture I can recommend going to. Astronomy Ireland is regularly organizing lectures about astronomy topics, and the next one will be about 'Astrobiology - the hunt for alien life' on Monday, 11th of October at 8 pm.
The speaker is Dr. Lewis Dartnell (lewisdartnell.com). He is "based at University College London, studying how life, and signs of its existence, might survive the intense cosmic radiation on the surface of Mars. Alongside his research he writes regular science articles in newspapers and magazines, and has published a popular science book introducing astrobiology, “Life in the Universe: A Beginner's Guide”. For more information and pre-booking of a ticket to Monday's lecture, click here.
Please note as well that after the public lecture in Trinity College Dublin there will be a special speech by David Grennan - member and former Vice Chairman of Astronomy Ireland - who found the first supernova ever discovered from Irish soil a few days ago. Read more in this article.
Have a good evening!
Caroline
